Apple Banned SAGA Comic Because Of Gay Sex

Apple is known for their tight controls when it comes to the kind of material and apps that are sold over their official channels, and the latest item to fall under Apple’s famous axe would be the most recent issue of Brian K. Vaughan’s (and Fiona Staples’) SAGA. The SAGA comic has been barred from sale in ‘any iOS apps’, according to Vaughan, because the 12th issue this week featured a couple of panels that depict small images of gay sex.

Vaughan’s credentials include being the writer of the extremely popular Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina series’, and has also picked up the Eisner Award gong for four times already, so it goes without saying that he has the experience and clout to share what he thinks. Vaughan believes that the banhammer dropped because of “two postage stamp-sized images of gay sex”. It remains to be seen whether the ban was because of the degree of explicitness instead of the question of sexual orientation, but you can be sure that this is an issue that is extremely divisive and will split opinions right down the middle.
