Larry Probst is stepping in as Executive Chairman so as to ensure a smooth transition. The company will partner with a leading executive search firm in order to find and appoint a new permanent CEO. As far as John’s record with EA is concerned, he massively increased revenues and international presence of EA and also established its name in new platforms.
John Riccitiello said that he’s very optimistic about EA’s future and that he believes this is the right time for him to pass the baton and let EA be run by new leadership so as to usher in the next phase of innovation and growth. The true reason behind John’s resignation as CEO of EA is yet to be revealed. The company is obviously tight lipped about it. It can hardly be due to the SimCity difficulties EA has been handling recently. Maybe John has other plans?
