ZTE Grand S Drops Price Tag

It seems that the marketing folks over at ZTE have come around, realizing that the success of its Grand S smartphone will rely a whole lot on a price that reflects the kind of hardware inside. Earlier this year, the ZTE Grand S was listed to retail for approximately $770 after conversion in China, which sounds rather suicidal considering how highly competitive the market is in that particular country. Even then, the priciest 5-inch Full HD smartphone in China would not sell for a dollar over the $600 mark.

Having said that, even ZTE’s very own 5” Full HD smartphone, the Nubia Z5, hovered around the $550 price point, and boasted of a higher battery capacity compared to the Grand S. I guess over the Lunar New Year, the folks at ZTE figured out that the ZTE Grand S would do a whole lot better if it sold for something in between the $480 and $565 price band. ZTE’s Executive Vice President He Shiyou claimed that the ZTE Grand S’ final price will depend on market conditions.
