All right, so the Sony Xperia E is not a flagship smartphone of any sort, but why is it under the spotlight at the moment? Why, the answer is pretty simple – folks over at Sony Mobile has announced that the Sony Xperia E has been made available for developers who want to write apps which run on the Firefox OS platform. The Firefox OS was first announced earlier this week at Mobile World Congress, and boy, has it been quick to see an experimental version of the Firefox OS software run on the Sony Xperia E.
This was made possible so that advanced developers are able to give it a go, while making it an opportunity to receive valuable community feedback for further improvement. Bob Ishida, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of Products Business Group at Sony Mobile Communications, said, “At Sony Mobile, we continue to evaluate innovative technologies that can help deliver the premium user experiences that Sony’s consumers expect. Our engineers are now working with Firefox OS Mobile and HTML5, evolving technologies which show great potential.”
