That was what the rumor mill reported over the past few months regarding the HTC One, so let’s see if any of that came true with the company’s official announcement that was made on a cold, dreary morning in New York City.
Jason Mackenzie (President of HTC)
HTC’s President Jason Mackenzie took to the stage to give the public a little information regarding how we all use our phone. The way we use our devices is vastly different from how original smartphone designers thought. HTC has learned from our experiences and is taking “a bold step forward to offer something new and fresh.”
The HTC One
HTC One design lead Jonah Becker came out to officially introduce the device to the world and marks the first time the company has delivered a device that’s completely constructed out of a matte aluminum finish that offer a “solid, sleek and timeless” look to it. The antenna is built into the HTC One’s aluminum frame and is also equipped with Gorilla Glass 2.
HTC is introducing a line of new experiences with the HTC One powered by their new HTC Sense. BlinkFeed will deliver a live feed of information that is important to the user. The content generated by BlinkFeed is customizable as you could choose to receive news, social media updates and other topics of interest.
The sound quality on the HTC One is supposed to be better than anything we’ve ever heard before from a smartphone as the device will introduce Boomsound. The HTC One is equipped with two front-facing speakers to deliver surround sound quality audio. Two microphones equipped with dual-membranes are also featured on the HTC One in order to help video recording as well as making phone calls.
Sense TV was also introduced as a way for HTC One owners to interact with their TV without reaching for their remote. The HTC One is equipped with a built-in IR port that allows for this kind of interaction, although HTC didn’t go into too great detail in regards with what exactly we can expect from Sense TV besides being able to change the channel with our phone.
The world’s first Ultrapixel Camera
We heard rumors HTC was going to introduce an ultrapixel camera, and so they did as the camera in the HTC One is able to capture 3x more light than traditional cameras, making it able to produce brighter images in low-light situations.
Along with the Ultrapixel camera, HTC also introduced its new HTC Zoe. HTC Zoe will allow users to create customizable experiences while they’re taking photos or video. You can customize the experience through a number of different themes, which depending on the theme can change the mood of your automagically generated video by changing its music and image filters. Videos created through HTC Zoe are sharable through Facebook, YouTube or email.
Where and when can you get the HTC One
HTC’s Americas president Mike Woodward took to the stage to let us know when exactly we can expect the HTC One to be released. In the U.S., we can expect a late-March release on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile with Best Buy having the device available for sale. As for options, the HTC One will be available in Stunning Silver or Black in 32GB and 64GB of internal memory variations.
