The folks at 4Gamer interviewed the president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Hiroshi Kawano, who was quoted as saying, “If I’m being honest, I also haven’t seen its final design. Even the controller we showed today, I saw the final design around yesterday or so.” AllThingsD did their own interview with Sony Computer of America boss, Jack Tretton, who said that “we don’t have a mass-production box that we can bring out and pull out. That’s still in development in terms of final specs and design.” Based on this, we can’t help but get the feeling that Sony just wanted to get the PlayStation 4 word out before Microsoft announced their next-gen Xbox.
In fact I even speculated to myself that maybe Sony was waiting to see what Microsoft would come up with, and perhaps redesign their console to make it look more visually appealing. Then again this is just aesthetics and we doubt that many gamers make their decision to buy a console based on how “cool” it looks. Either way hopefully Sony will be able to reveal something soon, but do you guys think that Sony was a little too hasty when announcing the PS4 and that they should have just revealed everything at once?
