Nintendo’s Wii U hasn’t been selling like hotcakes lately as the company has announced a new ZombiU bundle to entice potential customers, although some publishers aren’t thinking positive thoughts in regards to the console’s future at this point.
One of the Wii U’s major publishers, Activision, is speaking out in disappointment in regards to the console’s launch. During their post-earnings call yesterday, which was highlighted by the announcement of a new Call of Duty game, Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick said he was “somewhat disappointed with the launch of the Wii U.” Kotick also revealed his company is facing a number of “challenges from slower-than-expected adoption of the Wii U.”
Considering Ubisoft announced its originally Wii U exclusive title Rayman Legends would no longer be exclusive to Nintendo’s console, as well as delaying the game to a September 2013 release, Activision’s statements seem to be reflecting how the majority of publishers feel about the Wii U. Until Nintendo publishes titles that are worthy of purchasing the Wii U, or at least securing and keeping exclusives that highlight the consoles functions, we can continue to expect the console’s future to not look so well.
