[CES 2013] At Ubergizmo, we have been writing for a while about our hope to see more products running Android besides smartphones and tablets, and it looks like 2013 will bring its share of new smart Android devices. Following the launch of the previous model, the VSD220, an Android-powered 22” display, ViewSonic is coming to CES with a new 24” dual point touch display that runs Android JellyBean 4.1. Powered by a 1.7 Ghz nVidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, the VSD240 is a full HD LED screen (1920×1080) with a built-in 1.3 MP webcam that can be used as a regular PC monitor via its HDMI connector. Other connectivity features include USB ports, SD card storage and RJ45 Ethernet port, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology.
I am really excited to try this one out and see how responsive it really is, and how easy it is to switch from Windows to Android when it is connected to a notebook. We will certainly get our hands on the device during CES and we will update this article with our first impressions. The ViewSonic 24” VSD240 will be available in North America in April for $499.
