Tim Cook Visits China
Apparently Eric Schmidt isn’t the only high-profile tech titan traveling abroad at the height of CES 2013. Apple Chief Executive Officer, Tim Cook, is also going beyond borders and is visiting China for the second time in less than 10 months. The leader to one of the top technology companies in the world today met with China’s head of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to discuss the growth of the information technology industry in the country, as well as global mobile communications, and Apple’s business in China.
Cook has already visited China last year, and since then, the number of Apple stores in China and Hong Kong have grown from 6 to 11. Apple opened its first Apple Store in Beijing in 2008. Today, that number has tripled, with additional stores stationed in Shanghai and Hong Kong, as well as in Chengdu and Shenzhen. When asked for the details of Mr. Cook’s travel, Apple spokeswoman Carolyn Wu said that the details of Mr. Cook’s travel to China are not available.
