Pentax Unveils WG-3 GPS And WG-3 Ruggedized Cameras

Pentax has unveiled its 15th generation ruggedized point and shoot cameras. Enter the WG-3 GPS AND WG-3 cameras, both boasting improved specs and new features that are meant to outlast the toughest of situations. Pentax’s WG-3 features a large-aperture, 4x optical zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F2.0 at wide-angle and a back-illuminated 16 megapixel CMOS image sensor. WG-3 also features Pentax’s sensor-shift Shake Reduction system that ensures sharp, high-quality, and low-noise images. But the main selling point of the WG-3 is its waterproof, crush-proof and shockproof capabilities.

It can survive water depths of up to 45 feet, and outlast drops of up to 6.6 feet. The WG-3 is also coldproof and can withstand over 220 foot pounds of force. Users will also love its folded optical zoom lens that reduces its vulnerability to moisture and dust, and a nice ergonomic design that improves grip. On the other hand, the WG-3 GPS, as its name suggests, comes equipped with GPS features. The WG-3 GPS will retail for $349.95 and will arrive in purple and green colors. The WG-3 is cheaper at $299.95 and will arrive in black and orange color flavors. Both models will be available in March.
