Facebook Outage

Well, earlier this morning we talked about how PayPal experienced an outage, and here we are with word that Facebook, the world’s most popular social network, too, has experienced an outage. Thing is, when you type in the “www” prefix, you will be able to access your Facebook account, but just typing in “facebook.com” to enter into the root domain will yield a no go. Not only that, there are reports making their way around online that Chrome users seem to be the majority who are affected by the outage.

While performing some digital forensics, it seemed that at approximately 5:15 p.m. Pacific Time, this issue started to crop up for Facebook users who realized that they were unable to access the page. It is a high possibility that this will be a service disruption, and it remains to be seen whether the Facebook outage is part of an internal gremlin wreaking havoc, as history has shown that such a thing happened in October last year no thanks to a DNS misrouting blip. Perhaps if Facebook is down for you, now might be a good time to, you know, socialize with real people.
