Asus Teams Up With Leap Motion

Eager to start the year with a big bang, Leap Motion announced today that it has partnered with Asus to integrate its advanced motion-sensing technology into the Taiwanese giant’s computers. Via press release, the startup company said that Asus will bundle its very own revolutionary Leap Motion controller with select new computers, particularly new high-end notebooks and premium All-in-One (AiO) PCs this year.

As you know, Leap Motion introduced a new device earlier last year called “The Leap” that can track movements to 1/100th millimeter while creating a 3D interaction space of roughly 8 cubic feet. The controller can perform specific tasks such as navigating websites, make pinch-to-zoom gestures on maps, do high-precision drawing, manipulate complex 3D data visualizations, and more. The device also has a 150-degree field of view, and tracks individual hands and all 10 fingers at 290 frames per second.

This is definitely a partnership worthy of our attention. “Leap Motion has developed an exciting technology that will truly enhance the experience our customers have with their Asus devices, opening a world of opportunity for personal use and business, from entertainment to architecture to education. We’re proud to be one of the first companies to partner with Leap Motion,” says Albert Wu, the Desktop Division Senior Director at Asus.
