Windows Store Ban On 18+ Rated Games Removed

Microsoft has lifted up the Windows Store ban on 18+ rated games, which means that from now on, you are able to submit mature games for sale – assuming that the entire title has been approved for mass consumption, of course. This move comes about approximately a couple of months after Microsoft announced that they intend to maintain the PEGI 18 (“Mature” by ESRB standards) of the Windows Store, but I guess that those days will be consigned to the history bin from now on.

Well, having said that, the Windows Store should soon put for sale PEGI 18 or Mature rated titles, where among them include Dishonored and Assassin’s Creed III, among others. Windows Store exec Ted Dworkin said, “In welcoming PEGI 18 games into the Store, we again reinforce two principles—flexibility and confidence—fundamental to the Windows Store. We recognize that people have come to expect and appreciate rich gaming experiences on Windows and this includes games rated PEGI 18. We also want to ensure that every customer using the Store can browse and acquire apps with confidence.”
