Volvo has already signed a deal with fellow Swedish company, Ericsson, to use its Connected Vehicle Cloud service for its cars. The Connected Vehicle Cloud platform is essentially an application that will be used to connect infotainment devices such as music streaming services and other specific applications.
Wired says that Ericsson’s Connected Vehicle Cloud platform will be offering the Spotify integration. Müller also told Wired that instead of using the existing telematics modem for cloud-connected services, Volvo will allow drivers to bring in a second and separate SIM card that can use their existing data plan. Müller did not specify the actual date of launch, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for now. The news comes after Spotify announced that it will be making its service available on Roku.
