Sony Mobile Might Quit South Korea Market (Rumor)
There are whispers making its rounds among South Korean media that Sony Mobile could very well edge closer to a total withdrawal from the smartphone market in that part of the world. Word is, Sony Mobile Communications Korea is in the process of being subsumed within Sony Korea, as it begins to wind down its mobile operations in the region. Well, past actions by Sony Mobile has lent some weight to such speculation, as the Sony Xperia T which was originally announced to be released in South Korea with the LT30k model number never made it to store shelves. Hmmm, assuming this bit of rumor is true, it would mean that Sony Mobile would follow in the footsteps of other manufacturers including HTC and Motorola who decided to call it quits in South Korea. Does it mean that it is a three horse race there now where smartphones are concerned, with Samsung, LG and Apple being the only players? Only time will tell, so stay tuned as we hope to dig up more information.
