Samsung To Ship 500 Million Phones In 2013
This year marked a significant milestone for Samsung, not for their drawn out legal wranglings with Apple at the court, but rather, for the fact that Samsung is now the largest phone manufacturer in the world, having sold more than 420 million handsets. The Korean Times reported that Samsung has no intention at all to remain where they are, and have already drawn up plans to increase that figure to more than 20 percent, touching a whopping 510 million phones in the process for the coming year of 2013. I guess this is an essential step in Samsung’s evolution, as they need to stand out from their biggest competitor on the smartphone front, Apple.
We are sure that Samsung will continue down the same road with the Galaxy range of Android-powered smartphones, in addition to concentrating on growing their range of Windows Phone 8 handsets, too. The Korean Times reported, “Samsung is planning to release a lineup of devices powered by Microsoft’s Windows 8 mobile operating system.”
