Rhapsody extends carrier billing to AT&T subscribers
There are several music streaming options out there today, such as Rhapsody, Rdio, Spotify, and MOG, but it looks like Rhapsody could be getting one leg up on the competition as they have announced that they will be extending their carrier billing feature to AT&T subscribers. At the moment if you’re a Verizon subscriber, Rhapsody will allow users to use the carrier billing feature, but now it looks like AT&T customers will be able to get in on the action as well. What this means is that for those who like to keep their eggs in one basket, your subscription to Rhapsody will now appear in your phone bills, which could mean less accounts to juggle which adds to the convenience, which according to Rhapsody’s president Jon Irwin, was what they were aiming for.
This isn’t exactly a serious leg up over the competition as other services already offer carrier billing, but as far as we can tell, Rhapsody is the only one that offers carrier billing with at least two carriers – AT&T and Verizon. Will this be enough to help Rhapsody steal more market share? It has been suggested that with carrier billing enabled, more people will actually use that service, with some even spending up to 80% of their credit line in the process. What do you guys think? Does this extended carrier billing support with AT&T make you want to use Rhapsody’s services?
