Kinect Aids US Veterans With Physical Therapy
The Kinect add-on from Microsoft is definitely a piece of gaming technology that has gone beyond its original purpose, that is, to offer an alternative gaming environment where your entire body is the controller itself. We have seen our fair share of Kinect hacks in the past, and this time around, it seems that US veterans stand to benefit from the Microsoft Kinect, as it is being employed to help out in online post-traumatic stress disorder group therapy. Yes sir, Microsoft is working hand in glove with the US military in order to roll out Kinect software that will help veterans perform physical therapy in the comfort of their own homes.
Not only will this cut down on traveling time, it makes life a whole lot more convenient, don’t you think so? After all, not everyone lives near an Army base. This is what Microsoft had to say about this Kinect-based therapy system, “Microsoft is committing R&D and marketing resources to ensure that the [Defense Department] community is aware of the capabilities of the product.”
Obviously, the version of the Kinect at home will be a specialized military one in the future, but as of right now, our war veterans will have to make use of the civilian Kinect.
