Research firm Chitika predicted a tiny 0.2 percent growth rate later last week after the launch, so, as noted by TechCrunch, it seems that people were just waiting for the weekend to install the updates. MoPud says that it is monitoring over 1 billion ad impressions per day across thousands of apps and networks. “We observed since the launch of Google Maps for iOS 6 a 30 percent increase in unique iOS 6 users, and we think it’s related to Google Maps. It verifies the hypothesis that people were actually holding back to upgrade until Google Maps was available,” said Jim Payne, the Chief Executive Officer of MoPud.
