Apple at this time has reached over 50% market share with its iOS platform, 53.3% to be exact, while Android’s influence has decreased a bit from last month’s report, down to 42%. Apple’s iPhone 5 seems to be one of the primary reasons why Apple’s number expanded from last month.
Kantar World Panel’s Global Consumer Insight Director, Dominic Sunnebo, believes iOS will continue its rise:
“Apple has reached a major milestone in the US by passing the 50% share mark for the first time, with further gains expected to be made during December.”
Keep in mind Kantar World Panel’s reports are based on the buying decisions of customers within a 12-week period, this particular study ending on November 25th. It also doesn’t include tablets, which we’re curious to see how that would influence these reports seeing how many options Android users have in terms of devices versus iPad users.
