YouTube to update app for iPhone 5

If you happen to own one of the spanking new iPhone 5 smartphones, then you would have found the YouTube app to be less useful than before, partly because the app was originally designed for previous generations of the iPhone that carried a 3.5” display, instead of the more generous 4” display that you see on the iPhone 5. In other words, whenever you use the YouTube app on the new iPhone, it is impossible to watch a full screen video simply because it was not programmed to cater for the larger display. The same can be said about the 5th generation iPod touch that also sported a larger display size. What can iPhone 5 and new iPod touch users do about it? Nothing, other than to wait for YouTube to roll out the updated version of their app which will be specially optimized for the larger screen size.

There was no specific time frame released for the app update, although the folks over at YouTube did give their assurance that it is well on its way, similar to a previously announced app that was built specially for the iPad.
