Samsung doesn’t want to negotiate with Apple, it wants to settle everything in court
Samsung isn’t giving up the blue line, much less, give Apple a run for its own money. J.K. Shin, Head of Samsung’s mobile and IT division, told reporters today that the South Korean consumer electronics giant has no plans of following HTC’s footsteps. “It may be true that HTC may have agreed to pay 300 billion won (US$276 million) to Apple, but we don’t intend to negotiate at all,” Shin said.
Last week, HTC and Apple signed a 10-year licensing agreement for current and future patents. Although the details of the agreement were kept private, analysts predict that HTC is paying around $6 to $8 to Apple for every Android device it sells. That strategy works for HTC, but apparently it doesn’t for Samsung. The point is clear: Samsung doesn’t want to reach a considerable agreement with Apple, it simply wants to settle everything in court.
