LG Kids Pad Hits South Korea

LG will be joining the ranks of manufacturers such as Archos, Nabi, Ematic, Oregon Scientific, and Vinci – not because they have a spanking new smartphone up their sleeves, but because the South Korean consumer electronics giant is about to venture into the kids tablet market niche, where their maiden effort resulted in the LG Kids Pad that had already gone on sale in South Korea last week. The asking price was translated to roughly $276 a pop for the LG Kids Pad, which is by no means cheap, hence placing it in the more expensive rung of tablets for your little ones.

There is still no clear indication on the kind of operating system that the LG Kids Pad runs on, but we do know that it will come with an app store of its own, in addition to a throwback to old school portable consoles with the introduction of removable cartridges that carry apps, games, and other digital content which were specially designed for kids. Each purchase of the LG Kids Pad will ship with a cartridge that was specially designed to assist kids in learning English. Other hardware specifications include a 9” display, a camera, an automatic light sensor, and MP3 playback. By the way, don’t you think that this LG device looks just like the Nabi tablet?
