IBM conducted a survey and compared last year’s Cyber Monday to this year. Based on the survey, it showed that mobile shopping and mobile traffic increased dramatically to more than 70 percent this year while mobile sales increased to 96 percent compared to last year. IBM adds that the iPad generated the most number traffic online, taking 7 percent of the pie. The iPhone came in at second with 6.9 percent and Android devices covered the 4.5 percent of the overall share.
“Cyber Monday was not only the pinnacle of the Thanksgiving shopping weekend but when the cash register closed it officially became the biggest online shopping day ever,” said Jay Henderson, the Strategy Director of IBM’s Smarter Commerce. “Retailers that adopted a smarter marketing approach to commerce were able to adjust to the shifting shopping habits of their customers, whether in-store, online or via their mobile device of choice, and fully benefit from this day and the entire holiday weekend.”
