Apple donating $2.5 million to Hurricane Sandy victims

Just last week, Apple partnered with the American Red Cross to help thousands of victims affected by Hurricane Sandy. It launched a page in the iTunes Store for generous and kind-hearted people to pledge their donations. Today, as reported by 9to5Mac, Apple is donating $2.5 million to the American Red Cross to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims. Apparently Apple employees, together with its customers, have raised thousands of dollar for the relief effort. Apple, under the leadership of Tim Cook, has been increasing its charity efforts lately. The company truly deserves a pat in the back. Check out Tim Cook’s announcement after the break.

Team:

For the past week, our thoughts have been with those affected by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. And Apple employees and customers the world over have raised millions of dollars toward the relief effort so far. But we can always do more.

That’s why, on behalf of all our employees, Apple is making a donation of $2.5 million to the American Red Cross to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief. We hope this contribution will help families, businesses, and communities recover and rebuild.
