Activision Blizzard announces that World of Warcraft subscribers remain over 10 million
Considering the number of years that World of Warcraft has been up and running, we guess it’s not surprising that some players have gotten bored of the game and might have moved on to greener pastures, like Guild Wars 2, for example. Now interestingly it seems that in a recent Activision Blizzard investor call, it was reported that in Q3 2012, World of Warcraft managed to claim over 10 million subscribers. Granted this is a drop from what it used to be at its peak, but this is actually good news because prior to the launch of the fourth expansion, Mists of Pandaria, it was reported that World of Warcraft’s subscribers had dipped to under 10 million at 9.1 million subscribers. We guess the new features introduced in the expansion managed to pique the interest of both new and old players of the game. However it should be noted that since Mists of Pandaria was released not too long ago, its effect on the investor call remains to be seen and it will be interesting to see if those numbers will hold. What do you guys think? Did anyone go back to WoW after seeing Mists, and did you like it?
