Bethesda: Avoid Doom 3 BFG Edition on your Xbox 360 like the plague
Bethesda already has issues for quite some time already with the non-appearance of Skyrim: Dawnguard DLC on the PS3, and this time around, the developer has warned Xbox 360 owners to not install Doom 3 BFG Edition on their respective console’s hard drive. The reason behind this seemingly backward request? Word has it that Bethesda is aware of a strange bug for the Xbox 360 version of Doom 3 BFG Edition which affects folks who installed the game on the Xbox 360’s hard drive, which results in the system being unable to access the bonus Doom or Doom 2 titles.
Bethesda Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff said, “If you choose to install the game to the Xbox 360 hard drive, you will not be able to launch Doom or Doom 2. As their [sic] is no performance advantage to installing the game to your hard drive, we recommend not installing the game to avoid this issue.”
No idea on whether Doom 3 BFG Edition will be updated in due time with a squashed bug, but it is rather disturbing to know that such an old game that is nearly two decades old still runs into issues when ported onto a modern day platform.
