Windows 8 release date is approaching and almost every day, new mobile devices running Microsoft latest OS are launching.
The Acer Aspire M5-481PT Ultrabook features a 10 point multi-touch 14-inch HD display (1280×720), Intel 3rd generation Core i5 with Turboboost 2.0, a 500GB hard drive (and 20GB integrated SSD for fast booting), backlit keyboard and Dolby Home Theater v4 audio.
On the connectivity side, the device get two USB 3.0 port, HDMI out, and built-in optical drive. The PowerSmart long-life battery pack provides up to 8 hours of juice (according to the manufacturer). And you get all that performance packaged in a stylish silver aluminum alloy cover that tilts the scale at 4.6 pounds (for comparison, the Macbook pro 15-inch with optical drive weighs 5.6 pounds).
Acer is also releasing a 15.6-inch non touch version, the Acer Aspire M5-581PT that offers a similar configuration packaged in a dark gray magnesium alloy cover that weighs 5 pounds.
Both units will be available at Best Buy in the U.S. on Oct. 26. Prices for the Aspire M5-481PT with Windows 8 and touch support start at $799.99, and the 15.6-inch Aspire M5-581T configurations start at $699.99.
