Sigma unveils a trio of new lenses compatible with Sony’s A-mount
As Photokina is currently taking place, we guess it’s not surprising that new lenses are being announced and if you’re in the market for a new set of lens for your Sony camera, Sigma has unveiled a trio of A-mount lenses. First up is the 17-70mm f2.8-4 DC OS MACRO, which unlike the name implies, is a general purpose lens. This will be compatible with APS-C sensors and has been given a new design and a more compact build compared to its predecessor released back in 2009.
Next up is the 35mm f1.4 DG HSM lens which according to Sigma, is a state-of-the-art alternative to the regular 50mm prime lens. This particular lens has its axial chromatic aberration minimized which should help produce a “cool” and smooth out-of-focus type image. Given its aperture is set at f1.4, we expect that this lens should have no problems handling low-light situations. Last but not least Sigma unveiled the 120-300mm f2.8 DG OS HSM lens which is an update to its predecessor which was released in 2011.
With its rather long range, it’s safe to assume that this has been designed for photographers who might require in while shooting sports where they might need to zoom in on the action. It is both dust and moisture resistant and will allow the user to adjust the speed and focus limiter via a button on the lens.
