RadioShack wireless service kicks off

RadioShack has ventured their business tentacles even further this time around by rolling out a wireless service of their own, placing more emphasis on their future survival by stepping into the highly competitive mobile phone business. The wireless service will be known as RadioShack No-Contract Wireless, and it will rely on Leap Wireless International Inc.’s Cricket network that currently delivers discounted prepaid phone plans Stateside.

Initially, the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) plans will see a couple of handsets from Huawei Technologies of China, with another two more devices tipped to arrive before September rolls over into October. I guess this is a synergy of two brands that are currently finding it difficult to stay afloat with what they have at the moment, and all the best to them! Frankly, the big four (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint) need not be overly worried about RadioShack and its latest wireless service, but smaller carriers might want to watch their six.
