Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE at $499

Amazon has had a pretty good run with their Kindle Fire tablets, and this morning, the Kindle Fire HD certainly had us sit up and take notice – but when you offer Amazon $499 in exchange for a tablet, what can they give you in return? How about the Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE for starters? Amazon has called it the “ultimate tablet feature” for the built-in 4G LTE connectivity, sporting 32GB of storage space as well as dual antenna 4G for all 10 bands, now how about that?

Not only that, having 4G LTE radio on your Kindle Fire HD device is of no use if there is no corresponding data plan to keep it company. This is the reason why Amazon also announced a new 4G LTE package which costs $49.99 annually, where in return, you will get $10 Amazon Appstore credit, 20GB of cloud storage, 250MB of data each month, all coasting along to 4G LTE speeds.

You can see that Amazon intends the Kindle Fire HD 4G LTE to go up against the iPad 3 here in this $499 price segment, and they have broken down the total ownership cost for a year (data included) to $549 as opposed to the iPad 3’s $959 price point.
