With a chain being only as strong as its weakest link, so we are told to come up with long and complex passwords that make it hard for other humans to crack, although a computer armed with the right program could make short work of it. Having said that, Intel might just be venturing into a whole new world of passwords – one that does away with a slew of alphanumeric characters, and will instead rely on a new generation software and a biometric sensor which is capable of recognizing the unique patterns of veins on one’s palm.
Sridhar Iyengar, director of security research at Intel Labs, said, “The problem with passwords — we use too many of them, their rules are complex, and they differ for different websites. There is a way out of it, and biometrics is an option.”
It does remind me of the moment when Loki virtually transported an eyeball to Hawkeye in order to obtain some rare iridium in Germany so that the Tesseract will have the necessary material to open up the gateway for the Chitauri to invade the earth. Will our hands and eyes be at higher risk of being chopped off or ripped out simply because someone is desperate enough to hack into our respective user accounts?
