Wifarer app provides real-time indoor navigation

If you’re paying a visit to the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, BC, Canada, be sure to load up your Android phone with Wifarer’s recently launched app. Available for free on the Google Play Store (iOS version coming soon), the app is designed to enhance the visitor experience and offers customized tours with real-time indoor navigation and automatic delivery of location-based multimedia content.

What’s special about the app is Wifarer’s proprietary technology that uses a venue’s WiFi to pinpoint the indoor location of a user’s smartphone with an average accuracy of 4.5 feet. If you’re the kind of person who easily gets lost in a large venue, Wifarer will make sure it doesn’t stay that way for long. In addition to indoor WiFi navigation, the app also works outdoors using regular GPS. Indoor maps can also be preloaded from anywhere so users can preplan trips in advance.

More indoor venues will be added to Wifarer in the future (venue owners can easily deploy Wifarer’s mapping services without requiring any custom hardware), but for now you can check it out on the Google Play Store (free).
