Sony Xperia T makes its official debut at IFA 2012

It seems like all the rumors and leaks have paid off as Sony has officially announced the Xperia T. This will be the company’s brand new flagship device and will sport a 4.6” display that is powered by the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine, and at the same time has no problems playing back 1080p Full HD video content. It will also sport a 13MP rear-facing camera and a sleep-to-snap function that reportedly will allow the phone to launch the camera app in an “instant”. Exactly how fast this is remains to be seen, although Sony claims it will be just over a second.

Other specs include a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260. It is also PlayStation Certified, a feature which we’re sure many gamers can appreciate. It will come with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card and will also sport the OneTouch feature. For those wondering, OneTouch makes use of NFC technology, allowing users to tap their Xperia smartphones against other Sony NFC-enabled products to pair. This certainly sounds like a more elegant solution instead of having to wait to detect the other device, enable Bluetooth and etc.

The Sony Xperia T will also be launched with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, but will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean following its launch. Available in three colors, Black, Silver and White, the Xperia T will also be known as the Xperia TX in other markets and will launch globally in the next few weeks. [Press release]
