If the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a device you’ve been looking forward to, well, the wait is finally over as Samsung has officially taken the wraps off the device! It also seems that the rumors were right to a certain extent, such as its design which we admit really is reminiscent of the Galaxy S3, what with the color choices and its curves.
The device itself will sport a 5.5” display which is 0.2” larger than its predecessor, although it will have a display resolution of 1280×720 which while giving it a true 16:9 aspect ratio, is still less pixels than the original Galaxy Note which featured a resolution of 1280×800. It will also sport the same Super AMOLED HD panel like the original Note. If you were slightly bummed out by the display, fret not as the Galaxy Note 2 will come with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz with 2GB of RAM.
It will come with an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.9MP front-facing camera and a whopping 3,100mAh battery which should give you quite a fair bit of use before requiring a recharge. The Galaxy Note 2 will also be thinner than its predecessor, measuring at 9.4mm, although it will be heavier by an extra 2 grams. It will come in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB capacities and will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box – not too shabby, huh?
It is also expected to support HSPA+ 21Mbps and 4G LTE connectivity (availability depends on which carrier and which country it launches in). As expected, the Galaxy Note 2 will also come with an S Pen stylus which has been redesigned to be longer, thicker and supposedly more ergonomic.
A nifty feature called “Air View” allows users to preview content such as video, images, email and etc. simply by hovering the S Pen over it. Other features include Popup Note, bringing up an S Note on top of an app, such as during a phone call to allow the user to jot down notes or phone numbers, Quick Command that launches frequently used apps using the S Pen, and Screen Recorder which records a sequence of actions made on the phone, allowing users to demonstrate how apps are used and etc.
Pricing and availability has yet to be revealed, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will begin shipping in October for European markets and will be available in either Marble White or Titanium Gray.
