Microsoft discreetly rebrands Windows Phone Marketplace to Windows Phone Store?
Microsoft launched its new developer portal today and it’s called the Windows Phone Dev Center. The new Dev Center will replace Microsoft’s previous App Hub developer portal. In addition to that, Microsoft appears to have rebranded its Windows Phone Marketplace to a new name – Windows Phone Store. Although Microsoft did not actually confirm the change, the presumption was based on a caption over at the Windows Phone Dev Center site that reads: “Join Dev Center and publish your app in the Windows Phone Store.”
We also checked the official site of Windows Phone Marketplace, but so far it hasn’t been changed. So until Microsoft will confirm it, let’s add a dose of skepticism to it. But it’s important to note that Windows 8 already has its Windows Store, so a Windows Phone Store for Windows Phone 8 is sensible enough. What are your thoughts about this? Do you prefer Windows Phone Store more than the previous Windows Phone Marketplace name? Does it really matter?
