Word Lens now available on Android
A couple of years ago Quest Visual released an interesting Augmented Reality app for the iPhone called Word Lens. It basically allows users to translate signs from foreign languages into English just by pointing their phone’s camera towards it. It eliminated the hassle of having to manually input the sign’s text into an app/service like Google Translate and waiting for the results. Well for those of you who don’t own an iOS device and wished it was on Android – you’re in luck.
Quest Visual recently announced on its blog that Word Lens is now available on Android. For $4.99, users can purchase the app with one free language pack (English ⇆ Spanish, English ⇆ French or English ⇆ Italian). One thing great about the app is that it doesn’t require a data connection to work, which makes it even better when you’re in a foreign country. Expect more languages to be available in the future, but if what they have is what you need right now, you can head over to the Google Play Store to purchase it.
