Samsung says it inadvertently removed universal search on the Galaxy S3
Yesterday we reported that Samsung has deployed an update to the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to remove the local search functionality that got Apple suing for patent infringement. Albeit the move was already presumed by many considering what it has done to the Galaxy Nexus, Samsung is now saying that the move was accidental. The South Korean tech giant reportedly confirmed to TechRadar that it accidentally removed Google’s universal search function on the GS3.
“The most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S3 in the U.K. included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function. Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days,” Samsung told the publication. However, Samsung did not divulge further details about the removal of the feature, other than it being accidental. So, if you use the feature a lot, fret not because it looks like the GS3 will be getting the feature back in the coming days.
