In case you’re wondering why Amazon can price its goods so low – it’s because they now have centers set up in tax-friendly states. But according to reports online, Amazon will be setting up distribution centers across the country – including those that insist on collecting sales tax. And if you’re puzzled as to why Amazon would do such a thing, the Financial Times has an answer: so that Amazon can perform same-day deliveries. While this is all rumor and speculation for now – it does make sense. Having centers all over the country means that Amazon will be closer to its customers and therefore be able to provide such services.
If same-day delivery does come true, it looks like Amazon will have a huge edge over the competition. Nobody likes waiting for their goods to arrive and having same-day delivery alleviates the problem. However, it’s probably going to come with a price due to the company no longer avoiding sales tax with this strategy. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. What do you think of same-day delivery?
