Windows Phone 8 to feature new display resolutions?

If you wanted a Windows Phone handset with a large display, you have several to choose from like the 4.3” on the Nokia Lumia 900 or the 4.7” on the HTC Titan II. While those are some pretty decent sizes, their resolution does leave you wanting more at 480×800. While it might not be noticeable for some, we guess with Android phones already featuring 720p HD displays and whatnot, it does seem quite hard to give up that resolution for something less. However if you think you can hold out until Windows Phone 8, you could be in for a treat.

According to the folks at WPCentral, their site analytics have revealed several devices with 768×1280 displays stopping by their site using Internet Explorer 10 and are originating from Redmond, WA. This has led to speculation that 768×1280 could be a resolution introduced in Windows Phone 8 and according to their sources, it has been “confirmed” along with other resolutions such as 480×640, 480×800 and 720×1280. Wondering what this means? The folks at PhoneArena that a phone with a resolution of 768×1280 on a 4.5” would equate to 332ppi, slightly higher than the iPhone’s Retina Display at 326ppi. Either way Microsoft is expected to take the wraps off Windows 8 in the near future and we are definitely excited to see what they will be bringing to the table.
