The Toshiba Satellite U845W is probably the most surprising mobile device coming from the Japanese manufacturer since the Excite X10 tablet. Nowadays it is hard to be excited by new computing gadgets since they all tend to look alike and offer quite similar features.

Thanks to its ultra-wide display, the U845W gets a noticeable form factor, a unique look that is enhanced by an elegant bi-colored thin casing made of machined aluminum. Additionally, the soft touch finish on the lower part provides a good grip while the embossed pattern conveys its premium style.

Toshiba announced the Satellite U840, the European version of this product, a few hours ago.

The U845W packs some good features, beside the latest Intel Core processor (3rd gen), the device is equipped with harman/kardon stereo speakers and SRS Premium Sound 3D to offer a great video playback experience in addition to its 14.4-inch diagonal ultrawide-HD TruBrite display with 1792 x 768 resolution.

Other features include 500GB hard drive with 32GB solid state drive or 256GB solid state drive option, up to 8GB DDR3 memory, three USB 3.0 port, plus USB Sleep & Chargeand two USB 2.0 ports, Toshiba sleep and music, Ethernet port, HDMI out and Memory Card Slot.

The Satellite U845W will be available on July 15, 2012 starting at $999.99, which is a sweet price given the build quality, the thin body (starting at 3.5 lbs., 0.82 inches thin) and the computing power.
