These deep-fried (fake) gadgets do not look tasty at all

We’ve seen various stress tests conducted on gadgets before, such as the iPad being frozen in a block of ice, both the Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC One X used as hammers, but deep frying? That is admittedly a new one. Safe to say that any device deep fried should not still be working and well, that’s pretty much what an artist by the name of Henry Hargreaves set out to do. Now before you cringe at the amount of money wasted by deep frying these gadgets, it should be noted that these are actually recreations of the gadgets made out of foamcore, which was dipped in batter before being fried.

According to Hargreaves, the inspiration for this project came after he stumbled upon a video of Japanese youths attempting to deep fry a PSP unsuccessfully. Speaking to the Huffington Post, he was quoted as saying, “I like to play with food and the juxtaposition of different worlds […] Also I see similarities between tech culture and fast food. Quickly devoured and then discarded.” When asked why he did not attempt to do deep fry the actual gadgets, Hargreaves replied by saying “I didnt have deep enough pockets to get the real thing […] nor did i care to find out what happens when a lithium battery is dunked in 400°F oil!”
