Latest figures shows that Android 4.0 has grown to 7.1% of all Android devices
There are rumors swirling about the internet that has suggested that Google could be launching their own Nexus tablet soon, and that it will most likely be running on Android Jelly Bean. That being said, we have to ask ourselves – is it time for a new Android operating system? After all it still feels like Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has yet to make its way around to the rest of the Android phones, and thanks to Google releasing the latest numbers, it seems that Android 4.0 has only made its way to about 7.1% of Android phones. Of course this is an increase of 2.2% since we last checked, but with Google’s plan of a yearly major update to its Android operating system, could we see Android 4.0 numbers reach Gingerbread’s this time next year?
However it is still a pretty good sign that Gingerbread adoption has started to slow while Android 4.0 is on the rise, so hopefully the manufacturers and carriers will be speeding things up in the near future. In the mean time there are always Android 4.0 custom ROMs for those too impatient to wait for an official update, so be sure to check those out if you’re looking for a taste of Android 4.0.
