HTC One S launches in Taiwan with 1.7GHz Snapdragon S3 processor
A while back, a leaked document revealed that HTC had a device dubbed the “Ville C” in the works. Based on the specs, it appeared to be lower-end version of the HTC One S and would feature a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S3 processor instead of a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. With the processor clocked higher, would it be able to account for the difference in processors used? It seems that the answer is no thanks to lower benchmark scores on Nenamark. Either way if you’re looking forward to the Ville C, it seems that the device is set for a release in Taiwan and will retail for NT$17,900 (~$600).
When the folks at ePrice questioned HTC about why they decided to go with an older processor, HTC responded by insisting that the experience will be the same. We’re not sure how true this is, but we guess it really depends on the user and what they want to do with their phone. If simple surfing, checking emails and responding to text messages and calls is all they need to do, we guess it shouldn’t really be an issue. The rest of the phone’s hardware will remain the same, such as its 4.3” AMOLED qHD display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and an 8MP rear-facing camera with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board.
