Google launches Trusted Stores program for merchants and online shoppers

Today, Google is officially launching its Trusted Stores program that aims to provide online shoppers with customer satisfaction scores of merchants. The said program was first tested by Google last year with 50 online merchants participating and more than 10 million orders received so far. Google said via its blog that the program is working better than they hoped it would be, generating positive feedback from shoppers and increasing sales for merchants.

Google is now opening the Trusted Stores program to all U.S. merchants. Those who would like to participate can apply here. Explaining how the program will help shoppers, Google said that a Trusted Store badge will be awarded to merchants who are reliable and are offering excellent service. Shoppers can simply hover over the badge and see a “report card” showing the rating of a merchant’s service, including metrics about shipping and other details.

“This badge is only awarded to online stores that deliver a great overall experience, so even if you haven’t shopped with this merchant before, you can easily tell if they are trustworthy, ship quickly and reliably, and offer exceptional customer service,” Google explained. Google also added that shoppers who will buy from the Trusted Store can avail a $1,000-lifetime purchase protection per shopper.
