Garmin unveils zumo 350LM navigation system for motorcyclists
While GPS navigational systems tend to be catered towards drivers of four-wheeled vehicles, that does not mean that GPS systems do not exist for those who favor the motorbike. Garmin certainly does not think so and has outed the zumo 350LM navigational system. Designed for bike riders in mind, the zumo 350LM will feature a 4.3” glove-friendly display that has been encased in a waterproof exterior which will not only protect it from the elements, but also from “fuel sprays”. Since bikes are an open concept, we can imagine that trying to listen to the turn-by-turn instructions can be difficult while riding with the wind blasting in your face. This is why the zumo 350LM will be able to send those voice guided instructions to motorcyclists via Bluetooth compatible helmets or headsets. Other bike-friendly features includes the ability for riders to log their vehicle’s maintenance work with a service history log, and will also be able to plan out their trips beforehand via the Garmin Basecamp utility. The Garmin zumo 350LM is expected to roll out in the third quarter of 2012 and will retail for $699.99. Ouch.
