GammaTech Durabook U12Ci rugged notebook is no Hulkbuster
Notebooks are not exactly the most durable forms of consumer electronics out there, but that does not mean there are no rugged versions of the notebook to cater for folks who are involved in industries that have less than ideal working conditions. By saying that, I mean those who do not work in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment, where you park your butt in a little cubicle you call your own each work day. GammaTech’s latest rugged notebook, the Durabook U12Ci, was specially designed to meet the unique needs of today’s public safety professionals. It claims to be the first rugged tablet in the market that costs under the $1,000 mark, where it boasts of Ultrabook performance to boot.
Features include a 12.1″ touchscreen display, Intel’s new Ivy Bridge platform, Intel Smart Response Technology, a relatively long battery life, expandable memory, and security features amongst others. This powerhouse comes encased in magnesium, and has been tested according to MIL-STD-810G standards for drop, shock, and spill protection. You need not fear about its I/O ports being invaded by dirt and dust, since those are duly covered.
