Diablo 3 Real Money Auction House will require a Battle.net authenticator

There has been quite a lot of fuss recently regarding Diablo 3’s account security and what not, and with the launch of the Real Money Auction House coming soon, the last thing we’re sure Blizzard wants is to hear and read that accounts have been hacked and real money has been stolen (as opposed to in-game gold). This might explain why Blizzard has revealed in a forum post that with the introduction of the Real Money Auction House, Blizzard will now be requiring authenticators attached to the accounts of those who are planning to participate.

Players who wish to add money to their Battle.net Balance or to send money from their proceeds to their Battle.net Balance will require an authenticator in order to do so. However those who currently have money in their Battle.net Balance prior to this change will not require the authenticator, at least until they wish to add more money. If you haven’t already attached an authenticator, you should. The smartphone app version is free for download and is available on a variety of smartphone platforms such as iOS and Android.
