AT&T offers free Wi-Fi at Harlem’s Rucker Park

Last year, we talked about how AT&T will be offering free Wi-Fi connectivity in select New York City parks, with Central Park Zoo and Brooklyn’s Fort Green Park receiving free AT&T Wi-Fi earlier this year. In order to mark the first anniversary of the “Wi-Fi in the Parks” initiative, AT&T will make sure that Harlem’s Rucker Park is the 22nd New York City park to receive free AT&T Wi-Fi connectivity. To date, parks visitors have made over 2.7 million total connections, and that averages out to more than 10,000 connections each day, ever since the program launched in June 2011.

The coming months will also be exciting, as AT&T intends to complete installation at a total of 26 park locations, allowing smartphone and tablet users (as well as other mobile devices which come with Wi-Fi connectivity support) to be able to hook up to AT&T’s Wi-Fi Network which is carrier agnostic.
