When it comes to external displays for Mac computers, there are many to choose from but there is only one at the moment that features Thunderbolt connectivity. This comes in the form of the Apple Thunderbolt Display. However it looks like that could be changing soon as during Computex, ASUS took the wraps off a new monitor which features Thunderbolt connectivity, making this the company’s first. The monitor, like the Thunderbolt Display, will be 27” in size and will sport a Full HD 1080p screen. It will come with a DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. While pricing and availability remains unknown for now, the folks at Engadget have managed to confirm with the ASUS reps that the Thunderbolt monitor will be headed for the US. So if you’re in the market for a Thunderbolt capable display alternative that hopefully will not cost you $1,000, then this particular ASUS model might be one you’ll want to keep an eye out for!
